CFCF: Continent (Clear Colored Vinyl) Vinyl LP
2009 debut from chameleonic Montreal producer CFCF! First time on vinyl since 2013, peep the OG. Lab review from when we first carried the record in 2009:
I got really excited when I saw that this double LP had arrived in the warehouse. Continent is among my favorite albums of the year, a really impressive debut from 21-year-old Montreal resident Mike Silver, aka CFCF. The album fuses new disco, balearic and downtempo sounds to create a variety of rich, textured tracks. Check out the cinematic opener "Raining Patterns," (love those delayed piano lines), or "Monolith," for examples of Silver's ability to set scenes with sounds. Of course, there's also dance numbers like his cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Big Love," as well moody cosmic disco like "Snake Charmer," and "Half Dreaming." If you haven't heard the first single, "You Hear Colors," make sure to peep that one too. In all, it's a great collection of (mostly) instrumental pop that's great for setting a vibe or just jamming out with your headphones on. 12 tracks total spread over two thick LPs, all wrapped up in a great looking gatefold sleeve. Recommended.
