Dam-Funk: Architecture Vinyl 12"

Dam-Funk on a uptempo house tip! We’ve been dying for another track in the vein of “Galactic Fun,” so imagine our delight to get three on the same plate. This was super hard to find at the States when it first came out (I didn’t see it in a single record store), but thankfully the people behind the Canary Islands-based Saft Musik believe in second chances. A-side cut “Break Out” is late-nite cyborg theme music, almost sounds like some American Intelligence-era Theo with the rapid-fire hihats and that gruff, burbling bassline. Side B veers into balearic territory with the tropical percussion-laced “Hazy Stomp,” and “Your House” sports atmosphere for days and days, with about as sparse of a drum kit as you could ever get away with; it’s just as dreamy as anything off the Garrett LP. Both sides play at 45 RPM. DF just released Architecture II, so be sure to cop that one as well. Recommended.
