"Suvi" means summer in Estonian, and suvi is the vibe on this fire 7" released by the always on-point Frotee label. Heidy Tamme is a well-known and beloved Estonian pop singer who's best known in her home country for her Estonian pop songs. However, she was more personally drawn to soul and blues influences, and this release epitomizes that cool-soul sound. The track 'Suvi ei jää' is a loose rendition of Roberta Flack's 'What a Woman Really Means'. The track is poppy-yet-souful, perfect for use as a two-step boogie joint on the dancefloor. The flip is an instrumental version of the same track, arranged by Estonian guitarist Tiit Paulus. Recommended.
