Pixies: Trompe Le Monde (Colored Vinyl) Vinyl LP
The consensus sweats Doolittle and Bossanova, but for my money, 1991's Trompe Le Monde ranks near the top of the Pixies saga. Arguably their most energetic album from beginning to end, Trompe features absolute head smashers like the anthemic "U-Mass," the "americanized" Jesus And Mary Chain cover "Head On." the Frank Black-madness "Planet of Sound," and the wicked opening title track (love the metal-esque guitar play). These heavyweights get cut with the usual Pixies' diversion like the halcyon "Bird Dream," and the psycho-spoken word piece "Subbacultcha".... you know, when you grope for Luna. 30th anniversary edition on green marbled wax.
