Roedelius: Remixes (Peaking Light, Hieroglyphic Being) Vinyl 12"

Roedelius: Remixes (Peaking Light, Hieroglyphic Being) Vinyl 12"

Unexpected remix awesomeness for electronic/ambient pioneer Roedelius! For those unfamiliar, Hans Joachim Roedelius was a founding member of seminal krautrock/kosmiche groups Cluster and Harmonia. Their sound helped pave the way for the ambient side of rock and electronic music and lead to many beautiful ambient solo recordings from Roedelius himself (check the Selbstportrait series). This 12" finds two modern pioneers of the underground - Chicago's Hieroglyphic Being (aka Mathematics label boss Jamal Moss) and LA's Peaking Lights - reworking Roedelius pieces in their own signature styles. Firstly, the unpredictable Hieroglyphic Being goes for a leftfield breaks remix of "Remember," giving the track an epic, rolling breakbeat vibe that hangs with the heaviest, moodiest endeavors from DJ Shadow. Worth it for this one alone, but on the flip Peaking Lights dubbify "Puente" for maximum chill in the smoking room. Well recommended.
