LAB REVIEW
As analog heads and aficionados of dubbing and taping DJ mixes, we've had an eye on the second-hand tape deck market basically since they stopped producing them en masse. And while Teac's W-1200 carries a modern price point,Ā it really surprised us with loads of advanced features not commonly found on garage sale tape decks. The deck's independent mechanisms mean that tape 1 can play and/or record without disruption while tape 2 plays, stops, rewinds and fast forwards, allowing you to get into some really advanced taping tricks.Ā The pitch/speed control knob is another impressive feature that will let you make proper slowed-down mixes, DJ Screw style.Ā Repeat play mode, USB output for digital archiving, bright fluorescent display and the included remote controlĀ put this piece levels above most new entry-level decks and almostĀ any used deck.Ā And for straightforward recordingĀ or just simply listening to tapes, one-touch dubbing and playback are at your fingertips.
